Présentation Twelve Stories High Format Broché
- Livre Littérature Générale
Résumé :
12 women of color. A dozen whodunits. Which girls will survive? Long story short-they're in deep trouble. The sheroes of Twelve Stories High are suspected of murders they didn't commit. Hounded by dangerous unknown forces. Entangled in secrets and lies. And because they're Black, they're on their own-accused, abused, and on the run from cops as well as killers. When Florida's hubby demands a divorce and suddenly disappears, relocating seems her only choice. Until her newfound land is cursed, starts growing enemies like weeds, and begins to unearth a deadly mystery buried in her past. For Cherrie, who's catering boats to fund free meals to feed the homeless, being suspected of killing a media mogul on his to-die-for yacht is poisoning her future-and threatening to starve the hot new love she's stirring up aboard. Willow is having a nervous breakdown. Haunted by the spirit of a grandmother who exhorts her to hunt for long-lost wealth, she jets to the Caribbean on a genealogical quest for a fortune in hidden family treasure. From a southern small-town scandal to a seat on the Hollywood casting couch to a seven-year-old in the hot seat and four amateur painters finding their artwork hung beside their neighbor's corpse, these stories and more unfold as Trouble gets spelled with a capital TEA.
Biographie:
Award-winning writer, actress, director, and producer Bever-leigh Banfield is an accomplished storyteller on television, in movies, onstage, and on the page. With an M.F.A. from the Yale University School of Drama and a B.A. from Stanford University, she has performed in scores of productions from sitcoms to Shakespeare and is perhaps best known for her TV roles as author Alex Haley's ancestor, Cynthia, in Roots: The Next Generations and T.C., the plumber's helper, on Good Times. Her voice-overs are enjoyed in films, radio ads, commercials, cartoons, planetarium shows, and the audiobook narration of her inspirational non-fiction book You Can Change the World: Be a Change Wizard and Get It Like You Like It. When she's not writing or performing, Bev loves to paint, design, sew, garden, hike in the mountains, walk at the beach (really!), bake, meditate, read of course, and share fun times with family and friends. Born and raised in New York City, and having lived elsewhere in America and in France and the Caribbean, and traveled in Africa, South America, and across the US, Bever-leigh believes that each of us has a fascinating story to tell-and even a fictional character can reveal the mystery in us all.
