Résumé :
Is it possible to compile and rank music that was composed prior to the 18th century...
Biographie:
Wayne D. Cottrell adds another book to his Charting the Music series! This one compiles and discusses the earliest music, covering the nearly two millennia that precede the beginning of the 18th century. Not being out of touch with modern-day sounds, Wayne has also written books compiling recorded music from several decades and half-decades of the 20th century. Being a cycling enthusiast, Wayne has also written several recreational guidebooks, covering Los Angeles, Orange County and San Francisco, in California, and Utah. Wayne is a college and university educator, with a Ph.D. in civil engineering, and is an avid runner, cyclist, pianist, orienteer, and writer....

Nearly all of the music in the book's charts is from western Europe - to compensate for the geographical limitations, early artistry from beyond western Europe is discussed. The number one composition from the entire pre-18th century period, finally finding new life nearly three centuries after it was written, is Johann Pachelbel's Canon & Gigue in D. But, don't stop with that piece of information, as there is a whole volume of music about which to learn, listen and love. So, get the book, and look inside......
