Résumé :
Maria is new at school and wants to make friends. The first day of the upcoming spirit week at school is hat day. Maria thinks if she wears her abuela's beautiful sombrero, the other students would notice her. She asks her abuela if she can wear it, but Abuela says no. Maria sneaks the sombrero to school anyway, and the other students approach her to admire it. When Maria returns home, Abuela is angry that she has taken the sombrero. Abuela explains to Maria why it is special to her. The two deepen their understanding and love for each other in this multi-generational, heartwarming story.
Biographie:
Julie Bergfors lives in Crawfordsville, Indiana with her husband, Dan and two dogs, Addy and Dac. She is a retired first grade teacher and the mom of three grown children, who are the inspiration for her stories. Abuela's Sombrero is her second picture book for children. Retired from 26 years of teaching 8th grade science, she loves the extra time to paint. She is wife to Charlie, mom to 3 daughters and 3 sons-in-law, and Grama to 10 grandchildren. Abuela's Sombrero is her second book to illustrate, and she is honored to help Julie tell her sweet story.
