Résumé :
In ancient Thrace, a family of gifted gem carvers - Stallos and Saba, father and daughter - escape from their village in the wake of a brutal nomad raid. Traveling south during an at-times harrowing journey, they reach the city of Pylos on the coast of the Ionian Sea. Highly valued for their artistic skills, father and daughter are warmly accepted in Pylos and form a friendship with a local warrior. During a journey to a distant island, however, a storm, a battle, and political intrigue threaten to change all of their lives forever.

Biographie:
Born in Thrace (modern-day Bulgaria), Chavdar Chushev is a story teller and a leading expert in the field of gemstone engraving. With a vast knowledge of both modern and ancient gem carving processes, he has lectured on the subject and conducted demonstrations in museums and universities, including the Getty museum in Malibu, California. His engraved gems are collected by connoisseurs worldwide. A lifelong enthusiast of classical studies and a gradutate of the Indiana University School of Journalism, N.F. Houck is a writer and editor who has produced text for over a hundred publications, covering such diverse topics as Greek mythology, parliamentary procedure, computer operating systems, and gardening.
