He later taught world and Islamic art and architectural history at Yarmuk University, Jordan. He has written many books and articles on medieval and Islamic warfare, including Campaign 132: The First Crusade 1096-99, and Essential Histories 1: The Crusades. He lives in Leicestershire, UK.
