Résumé :
Ever since my world came crashing down around me when I was 16 years old, as I confronted the sexual abuse of my childhood and everything that stemmed from it, I have had a guiding motto in my life that has been instrumental in helping me move forward...one day at a time. It has been my experience that, within that manageable segment of time, you can handle just about anything life throws at you. And yes, sometimes-when the going gets especially rough, and the horizon appears extra dark-that one day can become one second. Yet regardless of the measurement, the principle holds true...as the sun sets on today, a new day dawns tomorrow-a blank page to begin writing something new. For me, as I journeyed from victim to victor and learned one day at a time how to survive, my daily blank pages began to fill up with personal thoughts, reflections, and insights as I wrote down my experiences of finding hope in my heartache, faith in my pain, and understanding in my despair. These daily thoughts serve as the basis for this book. My hope is that something shared will help inspire and uplift you. This book is dedicated to all those who have walked-or are currently walking-the difficult path from victim to survivor. I believe in you! You are worth it! Begin your journey of finding hope in each day as you navigate your own path of healing...one day at a time.
Biographie:
Patrick Risk endeavors each day to live and breathe HOPE in all that he does-from managing his Facebook communities, Brightness of Hope (https://www.facebook.com/groups/BrightnessOfHope) and Worldwide Unified (https://www.facebook.com/groups/534352464165662), to sharing daily messages of inspiration that are followed and shared by hundreds of thousands each week, to volunteering in various capacities as a chaplain and spiritual care advisor. He has a great passion for improving the world around him and strives one day at a time to live the mantra of being the change you wish to see in the world. Patrick's advocacy for hope was born out of his experiences in facing and overcoming great adversity in his life. Surviving years of sexual abuse as a child, overcoming a near-fatal eating disorder, and battling suicidal ideation from identity issues have all prepared him to be the fighter for hope that he is today. Never giving up, always fighting forward, Patrick was just 20 years old when he received his undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Colorado. At the age of 24, he received his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Utah. At the age of 25, he was certified as a chaplain from the World Spiritual Health Organization. Professionally, as of this writing, Patrick has 15+ years of experience leading companies through organizational transformations-11 of those years at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (https://www.linkedin.com/in/patrick-j-risk/). His work has saved organizations billions in costs by analyzing performance, developing solutions, redesigning processes, and managing projects that deliver change. He especially has a strong passion to support community welfare efforts by serving on various nonprofit board of directors.
