This novel is set in Dar es Salaam (Tanzania). It focuses on a couple whose happy marriage faces problems when a former lover secretly reunites with the wife. The husband, unaware of what transpires, continues with his wife. However, the wife does not know that her former lover is just a gigolo who wants to exploit her financially. He has turned himself into a hustler, with a secret desire to be rich. The gigolo's sister, who is also desperate, decidedly enters the couple's life as a worker in their renowned restaurant. She eventually succeeds to lure the husband to adultery. The gigolo's intention is to be in a position of power. So, he secretly decides to murder the husband. He is later on pursued, arrested, and given the death penalty. The wife is widowed, raising her two children alone. Later on, she finds another husband and becomes happy again. Jonace Manyasa (Ph.D.) is a lecturer in the department of languages and literature in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (University of Dar es Salaam-DUCE). He holds a Ph.D. (linguistics), an M.A in linguistics and a Bachelor of Arts (Education) from the University of Dar es Salaam. ...
