Présentation Gustave Caillebotte de Lambilly Elisabeth de Format Beau livre
- Livre Beaux arts
Résumé :
Gustave Caillebotte is unique among the Impressionists, the group of artists who revolutionised painting towards the end of the 19th century. In bold, often surprising compositions. he painted modern life, and his home city of Paris. He was also a skilled yachtsman, and an engineer who designed and built his own boats, a passionate gardener, and an astute collector. Drawing on family archives and illustrated with photographs that have never been published before, this book immerses us in the life and work of a truly exceptional artist.
Biographie:
Stéphanie Chardeau-Botteri is the author of Gustave Caillebotte, l'impressionniste inconnu ("Gustave Caillebotte : The Unknown Impressionist", Fayard). An expert on 19th-century painting, she is a member of France's Chambre Nationale des Experts Spécialisés. She is the great-grand-daughter of Gustave's niece Geneviève Caillebotte, with whom she spent a great deal of time. Using material from her family archive, she tells the artist's story from a new point of view. Elisabeth de Lambing is the author of numerous books on art for children, including about artists Claude Monet, Hokusai, Picasso, Magritte and Leonardo da Vinci, all published in French.
